SAGE
Lucent Medical Systems has developed SAGE, a near-field low-frequency electromagnetic system for real-time, 3D location tracking and navigation of catheters, stylets, guide wires, needles, and other medical devices, enabling medical procedures to be performed faster, easier, and with fewer risks and complications.
SAGE technology is available for license in select medical fields, and Lucent will work with you to customize SAGE tracking and navigation for your medical devices.
The SAGE system uses a small sensor module placed on or near a patient, which measures the low-frequency magnetic field generated by a very small SAGE coil placed inside or on the medical device to be tracked. The sensor module is connected to a laptop or other computer via a USB cable, and an icon is displayed representing the real-time location and orientation of the SAGE coil, relative to the sensor. Multiple SAGE coils can be tracked and displayed simultaneously, with an accuracy adequate for many medical procedures.
SAGE is essentially immune to interference from nearby metals or other magnetic materials.
